Four Things You Must Know To See The Tianjin Eye
The Tianjin Eye, also referred to as the Tientsin Eye, is a giant Ferris wheel standing 120 meters (394 feet) tall. Its official name is the Yongle Bridge Tianjin Eye, as it is uniquely constructed directly atop the Yongle Bridge, which spans the Hai River. Inaugurated in April 2009, it has become an iconic symbol of Tianjin. This marvel holds several distinctions: it ranks as the largest observation wheel in Asia, it is the world's only such wheel erected on a bridge, and it claims the position of the tenth-tallest Ferris wheel globally. Visitors can enjoy a ride on the Tianjin Eye for panoramic city views or admire the structure itself from a distance, with the Jingang Bridge offering a particularly splendid vantage point.

Key Details:

Diameter: 110 meters (360 feet)
Maximum Height: 120 meters (394 feet)
Number of Gondolas: 48
Gondola Size: 12 square meters (14 square yards) each
Duration of One Rotation: 20 to 40 minutes

The Premier Experience: A Ride with a View

The Tianjin Eye is equipped with 48 air-conditioned, transparent passenger gondolas, each accommodating up to eight people. A full rotation takes between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on passenger numbers and weather conditions. Upon ascending to the peak of 120 meters—equivalent to a 35-story building—riders are treated to breathtaking vistas of Tianjin stretching up to 40 kilometers (25 miles) away.

The Perfect Photo Opportunity: Jingang Bridge

For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, viewing the Tianjin Eye from a distance is highly recommended. The wheel's distinctive shape, which resembles a giant eye from afar, is the source of its name. The ideal location for photography is the Jingang Bridge, situated approximately 800 meters (900 yards) to the south. From this spot, the wheel is perfectly framed by the attractive buildings along the Hai River bank. The scene is especially magical after dark when the illuminated wheel and its reflection on the water create a stunning spectacle, revealing a different side of the city's charm.

How to Get There
